Ok, so...

we moved into our house 5 years ago last month.  Although we were very motivated in the beginning (painted the outside of house and garage, built a covered deck, made garage doors, landscaped, made a garden, painted all of the rooms in the house, took up the linoleum in one bedroom and refinished the hardwood floors, tore out the even uglier lino in the kitchen, painted the cabinets in said kitchen, are halfway through the bathroom remodel that began in May) there are so very many projects to do.  Some of them are truly projects while others are seemingly impossible endeavors.

The kitchen is too dark and needs to be painted again.  Not really a big deal but I just can't find the motivation to do so.  I haven't even put the handles back on the cabinets from when I painted them 2 summers ago!  A bigger and most daunting job is to paint the concrete floor in "the lanai".  This would be "easy" if there wasn't any furniture in the room.  Where to put it?

The biggest hardship of all is to remove the rest of the linoleum squares from the living room, hall, and other bedroom (what the heck was old Adolph thinking-covering up such beautiful wood!).  Pain in the butt...more furniture to store in the already cramped house (the garage is an even bigger nightmare storage wise).  These tiles are probably asbestos, don't come up easily, and then there is a nasty layer of mastic underneath that requires a heat gun to remove.  Then sanding, then staining, then sealing.

So, short story long...we had intended for the slightly larger spare bedroom to be our room and thus we bedded temporarily in the "big" room, re-did the floors in the small room but have never found that needed drive to move on to the intended room.  I have never done anything to our current room, feeling as if I decorated it then the move would never happen.

Today, digging through the basement of my family's home, I found quite a few old things of mine and had to bring them home with me.  So, with no other place to hang these treasures from my past, I finally put some things on our bedroom wall!  Maybe we will actually connect one of the many lovey lamps I've collected over the years to the exposed wires hanging from the ceiling!

A Nice Surprise

While blog-hopping yesterday I came accross a post about lighting on Slim Paley.  It was all about the ambient and soft, lanterns and candlight, lights strung in trees or floating on water.  Included in the post were my friend's, Andrew and Gabrielle, lovely handcrafted oil lamps made of recycled light bulbs.  It was really exciting to see that Recycled Light Company http://recycledlightcompany.com/ was among the beautiful examples of that post http://slimpaley.com/2011/10/13/tis-the-season-of-the-lantern/.

More Halloween Portraits

The second Saturday of shooting friends portriats was just as much fun as the first!  At the end of the night I was convinced to go out dancing (didn't take much as I'd been drinking my fair share of the great beer selection that was brought by various folks).

I didn't make enough mula to cover the loss of rent for the last two months but am happy to say that we have two new mates as of this month, yeah!  The idea of loosing that place just breaks my heart.  It has been a part of me for 11 years (this month).  It has gotten me through some pretty difficult times.  It has a presence of its' own, a soul.  It comforts, it encourages and let's me be me.  A very good friend indeed!
