We hosted another great live show at my studio, SPACE15 in June  We loved Desert Noises (from Utah) so much that we asked them back.  They are such great guys and incredible musicians.  One of our resident musicians (Sam Elliot Stern) played as well as EGG, a local edgy, progressive funk band.

  

It's Been a Long Time

Geez, more than 2 months since I have put anything up!  I guess I have to go retro and put up some photos of what has gone on because I like to use this blog as kind of a journal.

We had another May Birthdays party at our house, the 5th one actually, and it was a blast. The usual great food and folks and live music this time.  The two days of recuperation were a bumber but hey, it only happens once a year!

Yesterday was my birthday, and what a great day it was!

The Honey and I went to San Francisco to put my old film gear up for consignment.  It was very bitter-sweet as I'd traveled the world with that gear and never thought I'd go completely digital.  The sad fact is that I haven't shot film in more than 3 years and haven't been in my darkroom in many more.

As I saw all of my old friends sitting there on the counter I felt as if I was abandoning them.  But, the trade-off is that someone else will love and use them again and I got a "new" camera.  I got a Nikon D700 and will finally have some peace of mind when booking shoots.  My old D70 sucked!

So, I am super excited to move forward with my photography career and my life.  These last few years have really taken a toll on my confidence and self-esteem and I am really ready to move on!

New Do

When I was 14, a bad home perm had my hair falling out in clumps.  I was devistated when my long locks had to be shorn, leaving me feeling like a boy and crying in the back seat of the family station wagon. 

My hair has been many colors of the rainbow but for decades it hasn't been cut below the shoulders. To the shock of my friends and hair stylist, about 12 inches and several years of rough times fell to the floor.

I feel liberated from both physical and emotional weight.  Almost 50 likes on facebook, not bad!

Putah Creek Pic Nic

I loved this place so much that my friends Jeannine, Luna and I went back and had a little pic nic and a stroll.

Even if I only have a few hours to kill, I have always loved driving around and getting a bit lost.  Since I first got my licence I have avidly explored the nearby Delta and the foothills as well as other "places of interest" within a hundred miles of Sacramento. 

It has been a shock to me that I have recently "found" an area within my own county of Yolo that has become the object of my desire.  I want to live there among the Victorian farm houses and acres of crops with The Blue Ridge Mountain Range as the backdrop.  If I am dreaming, I might as well add Putah Creek running through the property!

My Commute
