Vacation

At the end of June we took a road-trip up to San Juan Island (northwest of Seattle) to have a vacation and a visit with my sister and her boyfriend.  They live up there half of the year while my sister does Killer Whale research.

The drive was absolutely beautiful as we spent most of it along the Pacific Coast Highway.  Once we got there it was nearly impossible to get the honey off the deck.  Every morning when we got up the whales were  right in front of us.  They would come back in the afternoon and we could often hear them at night.  It was magical!

We took drives around the island, getting lost in the hilly countryside dotted with farmhouses, cows and horses.  I collected drift-wood on one of the beaches, we hiked to a 1930's Knights Templar mausoleum, and attended the 4th of July parade in Friday Harbor.

It was REALLY hard to leave!

On our last night we "splurged" on a motel over looking Gold Beach in Oregon.  I sat at the beach watching the sunset wishing for just one more day of vacation. That wish didn't come true but here are some photos to remember our time by.
